poster design

Here is a selection of theater and event posters that includes much of my recent design work. They are arranged in reverse chronological order, most recent to least, and span roughly three years, 2005 to the present. Click on any image to see a larger version. (For more information on many of these productions, see the theater section of this site.)

t-shirt design

A fun spin on my usual design work. These four designs were professionally printed, something I can easily help you arrange if you're interested in commissioning a design from me. I also do hand screen-printing, a cheap, fun option for making a smaller quantity of shirts in a simple color range. Want a custom screen-printed shirt? Email me! Meanwhile, here are a few examples: [1] / [2] / [3].

As You Like It
A t-shirt design for the summer 2008 production of As You Like It by Virginia's Four County Players.

Twelfth Night
A t-shirt design for the summer 2007 production of Twelfth Night by Virginia's Four County Players.

YCTC 2005
A t-shirt design for the American Shakespeare Center's Young Company Theater Camp.

YCTC 2004
Another design for the ASC's Young Company Theater Camp, a summer Shakespeare program for teens.

book design & art pieces

In this work I combine fine art (painting, illustration, letter-press, bookmaking) and design.

The Stolen Child (15x20in / limited edition)
I designed and illustrated this poster and printed it by traditional letter-press. The illustrations were cut into aluminum plates and set alongside the type. The poem is "The Stolen Child" by W. B. Yeats. FOR SALE!
$55 unframed, $80 framed.
Email me if you're interested in purchasing one!

A Brief for the Defense
This is an artist's book of a poem by Jack Gilbert. The pages and inside cover are hand-painted and all the text is letter-press printed. The book is hand-bound and was created in an edition of 3.

This Room Is Full of Rooftops!
This set of four-books-in-one is a visual version of This Room Is Full of Rooftops! (Memory Plays), an original show by the Control Group Experimental Theater Ensemble. The books are designed using typography alone, as an attempt to capture the play's spirit in print. Winner of the Lohmann Prize.
